Session 1: Cultural and Linguistic Competency

Participants will learn about what culture, cultural awareness and cultural identity means. The module will focus on understanding what cultural and linguistic competency means and will identify what bias means, types of biases and the importance of knowing your own biases. Finally, participants will learn about strategies and ways they can improve cultural and linguistic competency in their practice.
Session 2: Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Service Standards
July 18, 2022 | 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM (PST) | 2 CEUs
Participants will learn about the 15 National Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Service (CLAS) Standards. Participants will be provided each standard and examples of what that looks like in practice. There will be discussions around why CLAS is so important in healthcare. Finally, participants will identify ways they can embed CLAS standards into their individual and organizational practices.
